Mary started her business, Tour America, 23 years ago in her sitting room with a team of 3. It is now Ireland’s no. 1 Tour Operator to the USA, Canada and Mexico, selling extremely competitively priced holidays with excellent service, and no. 1 seller of cruises worldwide. Tour America currently turns over €20m, has 50 staff, and offices in Dublin, Cork and Orlando. She started Cruise Holidays after September 11th 2001, which are the No 1 agent for selling worldwide cruises in Ireland.
Mary sits on many advisory boards including Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruise, Norwegian Cruise Line, and MSC Cruises, and is on the CLIA board, which represents all cruise companies. She also sits on the AIB SME advisory panel, and Brand USA. She recently was elected onto the Dublin Chamber Council.
Mary has mentored on the Enterprise Ireland’s Going for Growth programme over the last 6 years, and is also involved with BIC Cork where she also mentors entrepreneurs. She completed the Leadership for Growth Programme at the IMD in Switzerland in 2012.
Mary and her team fundraise for many organisations, in particular children’s charities. Mary raised €5000 for Barnardos in 2011 having completed the NYC marathon, recently raised €5000 for Crumlin Children’s Hospital, and donates any fee for speaking to Temple Street Children’s Hospital. Mary is the only female rugby coach for her 9 year old son in Old Belvedere RFC, and his soccer coach at Beechwood FC. She is an avid sports fan and loves cycling, recently completing a 650 km cycle in Spain over 5 days.
