David Whelan is CEO of Immersive VR Education Ltd., and his wife Sandra Whelan is Chief Operations Officer. Together they co-founded the company in 2014 with the aim of bringing immersive technology to distance learning and to transform how students learn globally.
During this period, Sandra also worked as a Senior Editor and Content Creator for a top ranked virtual reality website, where she developed a strong rapport with key software developers in the industry. Sandra also has significant experience working with large corporations’ contract management and accounts management.
Additionally, Sandra was a judging panel member for the Waterford Local Enterprise Irelands Best Young Entrepreneur Competition in 2017, where she judged finalists for three National Category Awards; ‘Best Business Idea’, ‘Best Start Up Business’ and ‘Best Established Business’.
In his former career, David was Editor-in-Chief of the Virtual Reality Reviewer and has 14 years software development experience, with seven of those years running his own web development studio. David has won many international awards for his work in virtual reality including a Timer Warner- Future of Storytelling Award, Vision Award and Viveport Award for his work on Apollo 11 VR and the ENGAGE education platform.
In March 2018, David Sandra and the team successfully listed VR Education Holdings on the London and Irish Stock Exchange and were also the recipients of The Irish Times Business People of the Month Award for March 2018.
