Barry Napier is CEO of Cubic Telecom, a company he helped acquire in late 2008. Napier is a seasoned telecommunications executive with more than 18 years’ experience and two successful M&A transactions to his credit. Napier is responsible for corporate strategy, day-to-day leadership, investor relations, M&A and strategic partnerships.
Cubic Telecom’s team has now expanded to over 120 people with over 25 nationalities. As the only established technical enabler with over 1.3 million connected cars to date, Cubic is now recognised as the leader to the Automotive OEMs, making partnering directly with tier 1 mobile network operators critical. Cubic is providing global partners such as VW Group with a secure architecture for global deployment in their connected car strategy. Cubic has closed agreements with more than 60 mobile operators including AT&T, China Mobile, Digicel, Orange, Verizon, Sprint, PCCW and Vodafone.
Cubic Telecom has raised approximately €75 million in funding, most recently closing a €40 million Series C round led by Audi, Qualcomm, Valid and the ISIF in August 2017. Cubic’s early funding partners included Enterprise Ireland, Qualcomm, Sierra Wireless, ACT Venture Capital and TPS Investments.
Prior to joining Cubic, Napier was CEO of BPI Ireland, where he led the acquisition and integration of the Irish Arm (Brightpoint Ireland) in late 2003 and led the company from 15 employees and €20 million p/a to more than 80 employees and €155million p/a in 6 years.
